Lakes Linked is an independent public-health analytics project designed and conducted by Sergey Soshnikov, MD PhD. Disease burden analyses were implemented in Python using publicly available data sources, including CDC PLACES, CDC WONDER, the U.S. Census American Community Survey, and IHME GBD 2021 disability weights; all modeling assumptions and analytical methods reflect the author's own independent work. Results are presented for informational purposes and should be interpreted in light of the data limitations and methodological choices described throughout the site.
The Isabella County analysis serves as the reference template for the series. The accompanying R code used for its calculations is available on request at contact@lakeslinked.com.
All estimates — DALYs, mortality rates, prevalence, and related indicators — are planning-grade approximations, not formal GBD study outputs. They are derived from publicly available sources including CDC WONDER, U.S. Census Bureau, and IHME GBD study data. Estimates carry uncertainty; values should be treated as directional rather than definitive.
